State of Affairs During COVID-19 | A Message From Our Acting E.D., Wendy Scott

Exchange Family Center realizes you are also likely experiencing new challenges as we all deal with the current pandemic. We’re working diligently to develop alternative ways to continue serving Durham children and families during this unprecedented time of social distancing and isolation.

As you can imagine, many of the clients we serve are now facing even more obstacles, both financially and personally, which can result in significant strain on family relationships. Supporting the safety and wellbeing of children across our region is needed more than ever. The increased stress brought on by the effects of the impacts of the coronavirus - mass unemployment, food security, illness, isolation, etc. - increases the risk of abuse and/or neglect of our community’s children and they will need your help during these difficult moments.

Pinwheels Family Fun Day is Cancelled to Keep Families Safe

Our primary spring fundraiser scheduled for April 26 was canceled due to government orders related to large gatherings and “stay at home” requirements. EFC typically generates $21,000 in donations and attracts nearly 700 family members, allowing us to continue our mission of making children’s lives better by strengthening their families, teachers, and communities.  With this in mind, and in consideration of lost income, we’re kindly reaching out with two options:

Option 1: Convert your Pinwheels financial support to a donation

We can convert your pre-committed sponsorship or other Pinwheels contribution to the Exchange Family Center which will support our mission in powerful ways all year long. We'll also follow up with a confirmation receipt for your records. If you have already reached out to us with your decision, you do not need to resubmit. Or if you prefer a full refund, please email Calvin at calvinb@exchangefamilycenter.org to make arrangements.

Option 2: Make a donation today to help EFC replace this lost income and sustain for the future! There are several easy ways to help us continue our Exchange Family Center services that reached over 2000 children and families last year in Durham County. Whether through a one-time donation, a monthly giving plan, or legacy giving plans, your support will allow us to continue our 27-year track record of providing valuable direct services through home visits, training, and therapy.

As we face this crisis together, be assured our staff are committed more than ever to carrying on our 27 years of serving the community through counseling, coaching, and training. Please contact Calvin Burton, Development Manager, at calvinb@exchnagefamilycenter.org or (919) 321-0657 with any questions.

Thank you for joining us in this valuable and needed effort!
