Sustain the success of the Exchange Family Center.

For over 25 years the Exchange Family Center has been strengthening families and preventing child abuse and neglect in Durham. Originally providing in home support for families with children up to age 12 using the Parent Aide model, Exchange Family Center now serves 400 families a year for families of children up to age 17 using multiple proven programs.

Exchange Family Center coaches parents at home and child care teachers in their classrooms to better meet the needs of children with challenging behavior.  Exchange Family Center respectfully partners with overwhelmed caregivers to make significant and sustainable improvements in caregiver stress, caregiver-child relationships, and children’s challenging behavior.  Caregivers overwhelmingly recommend Exchange Family Center to friends and family members.  Services are made as accessible as possible and are in constant demand. Will you ensure this support is available to future generations of Durham’s children?

Why Legacy Giving?

Both planned lifetime giving and legacy giving provide certainty for the future while allowing you to meet your financial obligations in the present.  By pledging a legacy gift of a portion of your assets to the Exchange Clubs for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Durham Foundation, you make the future of Exchange Family Center more secure.

This foundation, started by Exchange Club members in 1998, supports Exchange Family Center and all its programs with interest and dividends off an untouched principal.  Currently valued at approximately $360,000, the foundation offers Exchange Family Center approximately $14,000 annually.  By growing the foundation, you offer Exchange Family Center additional resources in perpetuity to provide Durham’s families with the support they need to flourish.

A legacy gift does not come out of your current income, but rather is a commitment for the future.  No matter your age, you can plan for your own family’s needs and then designate monies to support the causes you support now.  This can minimize the tax burden on your assets while insuring the causes that count on your support will continue to have it.

Whether you select the foundation as a beneficiary designation for your IRA or life insurance, or you set up a charitable remainder trust, Exchange Family Center would be honored for you to ensure families can access support through life’s difficult moments for another quarter century and beyond.
